Welcome to the first edition of the OARS training, Inc e-newsletter.  Since 1999, OARS has operated as a human resource consulting firm, specializing in training and development.  Drawing on the success OARS has achieved in the past and building on it, we have recently developed a renewed vision as workforce development specialists supporting the labour market attachment of vulnerable people.

Personal attachment to the labour market equates to an individual’s ability to contribute to his or her own life, family and community.  The work of OARS in the recent past has focused on projects and research relating to Aboriginal people, recent immigrants and the segment of the workforce that has come to be known as the ‘discouraged workers’.  These are the vulnerable people in our workforce and programs and services aimed at strengthening the attachment these people have to the world of work are the primary objectives of OARS training.

This newsletter includes links to a series of articles written by OARS President Louise Nichol, which indicate the current project focus for OARS training Inc.:

The OARS website has become a venue from which we can highlight and make available many of the research products and human resource tools that we have developed over the past several years.

The products and services of OARS training, Inc. generally fall into two main categories.  Both support the enhanced employability of the most vulnerable people in the labour market pool:

  • Research – Includes products, reports and models that support policy structure and impact.  This category of information is most applicable to government agencies, policy makers, researchers, First Nation community leadership and system designers.
  • HR Tools – This group of products includes human resource tools, samples and strategies that present the practical application of research.  This area will appeal most to employers, trainers, process facilitators, practitioners, community colleges and non-profit agencies.

The collection of available products will be updated and expanded on a regular basis so continue to check the website for the new materials.

If you think that OARS might be a good fit for your organization and would like to discuss a project further, please call anytime.
